SLOVENIA IN US

New York, NY – Wayward Pen Foundation presents “SLOVENIA IN US”, an exhibition dedicated to raising the awareness of Slovenia’s heritage and independence, created by photographer Alenka Slavinec. This collection of work will be on display from June 14th through June 25th at the Gallery MC. The opening reception for the art exhibition is scheduled on June 14th.

This unique exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the beautiful almost dream like legends of  old Europe. Created by Alenka Slavinec,“Slovenia in US” is a tribute to Slovenia’s independence and freedom. Ms. Slavinec’s Lipizzan stallions captured by her lens, bathing in a morning fog and perpetual freedom, photographed in their home town in Lipizza, Slovenia.. Her images are magical as they subtly invoke a quiet poetry that fills us with an emotional journey of love, truth, beauty and tradition. Ms. Slavinec chose twenty photographs representing each year of Slovenian independence,  through the pure form of the Lipizzan stallion.

The Lipizza Stud Farm has 430 years of illustrious history. For most of that history, this elegant, orderly estate has been the private breeding preserve of noble families and noble horses. Today, everyone can enjoy a stroll down the well-tended grounds, visit the spotless stables and paddocks, and witness the famous Lipizzan horses dazzling with their dancing feet, to the classical music.

Slovenia has a rich tradition and long history, dating back to the Roman Empire through the Habsburg Monarchy, the State of Slovenes, Croats, and Serbs than joining Yugoslavia in 1943. On 25th of JUNE, 1991, Slovenia declared full sovereignty.
